Rigotti oboe and bassoon reed tip guillotine has a classic gulliotine mechonisim with a highly sharpened blade which is pushed down to cut the tip of the reed off. there is an adjustable stop at the other end to ensure that the tip is cut of straight and this can be adjusted so that different lengths of reed can be cut. Once the position of the adjustable stop is set you can just leave it in that position and consistently cut the tip off reeds at that length. This helps you have more acurate control over the reed making process and thus inreasing the consistency of your reed making.
