Good pitch and center to the sound. Not quite as round a sound as the Tulip Contrabassoon Reed, but with a bit more edge, which will be better in some contexts.
Very hard cane, required a bit of work and readjusting to play properly but now plays very well.
Great reed, a little hard at first, but after the initial blow-in, plays really well, and have had lots of compliments on sound quality!
My son had been asked to play contra-bassoon for a County music group for a specific piece, he usually plays normal bassoon: he found these reeds (we bought two) no problem to use, they produce a smooth expansive tone, and we have been happy with them. The only problem we've had is not the reed but the size of the instrument, which won't fit into mist cars!
